FIGHTING BACK: Ex-Addict Credits ABC 6/FOX 28 with Saving Her Life

COLUMBUS (Steve Levine) --  A heroin addict who was featured on the ABC 6/FOX 28 Fighting Back Wheel Of Justice three years ago credits the crime fighting tool with saving her life.

Going to jail was the wake-up call, says Sarah Saker, 25, who turned herself into authorities for drug trafficking after being profiled during an ABC 6 broadcast in September, 2010.

I was terrified of leaving the house, Saker said, Every time I saw a cruiser, I would duck behind a house, because if police saw me they were going to arrest me. Everyone knew who I was because I was on TV.

Sarahs life on the run ended after she took her parents advice and turned herself into police.

I wouldve died. I wouldnt have lived, said Saker, who spent three weeks behind bars and was on probation for 18 months.

We have to thank the Wheel of Justice, Saker's father, Ted, said. That certainly was a catalyst that helped start the process of sobriety.

Saker has been clean for more than two years, and is now enrolled in college, where she is working on a design degree. She is also helping fellow addicts turn their lives around.

You just have to take things one day at a time, she said.
