Last-Minute Valentine's Day Shopper Flood Central Ohio Stores
COLUMBUS (Ashley Yore/Ken Hines) -- Love-struck procrastinators are in luck this Valentine's Day, with central Ohio flower shop workers and chocolatiers ready to provide gifts to last-minute shoppers.
Stores selling traditional Valentine's Day gifts are expected to be slammed on Friday by those who put off their shopping until the last minute -- with or without a good reason.
They're fresher at the last minute, and I didn't want to have them, so if I picked them up earlier they would have frozen in my car," one man said as he purchased flowers at 5th Avenue Florist. "I had to keep them warm and fresh, and I can take them right to her and hand deliver them."
Many business operators, like Daniel Cooper of Imagine Chocolatiers on Grandview Avenue, make sure to cater to last-minute shoppers on Valentine's Day to make sure no potential customers are forced to face their significant others empty-handed.
We still keep going, even though we have supply, we still keep going to replenish to make sure that no one is left out, Cooper said.
As for those whose procrastination cost them their chance to buy their sweetheart's preferred gift? Cooper says something is always better than nothing.
"Buy something, don't go home empty-handed," he said.
