City Officials to Lift Ban on Rush Hour Street Parking in Short North

COLUMBUS (Chris Vanocur/Ken Hines) -- Some Short North workers and customers are cheering the impending doom of a ban on rush hour street parking in the area.

City officials announced Friday that they will soon lift the regulation that prohibits parking on the street between King Avenue and Goodale Boulevard.

The move comes as welcome news to Short North-area workers who have seen their businesses suffer because of the ban, which is in effect from 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., and 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

The announcement of the ban's lifting was met with a big "Yay" by Cup O Joe employee Jessica Ankrom, who claims to see customers undeterred by the prohibition receive parking tickets every day.

"I just go, 'Ooh, ouch, another one bites the dust,'" she said.

The ban on street parking in the area may be lifted as early as next month.
