Private Plows Benefit from Central Ohio Snow Storm

NORTHEAST COLUMBUS (Lisa Rantala/Kate Liebers) -- Private plowing companies saw a lot of green after drivers experienced a lot of white after Tuesday night's snow storm.

A five-inch blanket of snow caused private crews to start plowing business parking lots around 10:30 p.m.

"We have to get it done before a bunch of cars get in here," said Gary Standard, plow driver.

By 9 a.m. Wednesday, Reneker Lawn Care driver Dion Holmes said he had already cleared three lots and had 10 more on the schedule.

Other snow removal companies tell ABC 6/FOX 28 that they quote $85 an hour to $400 per parking lot, amounts that add up in storms like these.

Contractors said area apartments have called the private plow companies since the snow depths have exceeded two inches.

However, the plow companies have prioritized business, not residential, properties.
