Student Accused of Sending Racist Messages on Facebook

LANCASTER (Jen French) -- A junior high school student could be facing criminal charges after police say he sent racial threats to a classmate on Facebook.

Lancaster Police say a 14-year-old student at Ewing Junior High School sent a black student photos of swastikas and lynching.

After targeting one of his classmates Monday, the teen was suspended. Officers took the teen to a juvenile detention facility for criminal menacing.

School officials say its not the first time the student posted something offensive on Facebook.

"That's what we want to teach students to do--is to resolve differences just as you and I would if we had a difference, Superintendent Steve Wigton said.
