Police Tow Vehicle Out of Giant North Columbus Pothole

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- Police were forced to pull a vehicle from a giant, water-filled pothole after a driver became stuck early Tuesday morning on a North Side street.

Investigators initially worried that a water main break filled the large pot hole on Hamlet Street near E. 4th Avenue, but quickly determined that rain and melting snow were to blame.

Police were alerted to the problem at approximately 3:30 a.m., when a motorist called 911 to report that he or she had driven into the hole.

City workers will soon patch the pothole, according to police.
