Shooter Wounds Driver Leaving North Columbus Bar
COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- A man who drove to gas station for help after being shot inside his car is expected to survive his injuries, according to investigators.
Jeffrey Williams Jr. was assisted by employees after pulling into Speedway at 635 Weber Road after being shot while driving away from Oakland Park Bar and Grill at approximately 1:15 a.m. Friday.
Williams told police he was driving in an alley near the bar when he was fired upon by an unknown assailant, smashing the back window of his vehicle and striking his arm and back.
Williams, 28, had patronized the bar before he was shot, but claimed he was not involved in any altercations while he was there, according to police.
After a Speedway clerk flagged down a passing officer, Williams was transported to Riverside Methodist Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition.
Investigators have not established any suspects or motives in connection with the shooting. Anyone with information about the crime is encouraged to contact the Columbus Division of Police Assault Unit at 614-645-4141.
