Man Indicted After Burns Force Doctors to Amputate Part of Baby's Leg
MOUNT VERNON (Kelsey Mallahan) -- A man was indicted Tuesday on one count of Felonious Assault and two counts of Child Endangering after a child suffered burns so severe doctors were forced to amputate part of his leg.
According to court documents, a statewide warrant was issued for Zachariah W. Keen, the boyfriend of the childs mother. According to police, the boy was alone with Keen when he was hurt.
The 6-month-old Hunter Hammons was hospitalized at Nationwide Childrens Hospital after the incident that occurred on Jan. 17th, 2014.
Knox County investigators have not provided specifics on the case, but Hunter's grandparents said doctors found fractures on the child that they said were not caused by an accident.
