Suspect On the Loose After NE Columbus Bank Robbery

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a Northeast Side bank on Thursday morning.

The unidentified suspect stole an undisclosed amount of cash from Cooper State Bank on State Route 161 near Karl Road at approximately 7:30 a.m.

Bank employees told police they were able to place a dye pack in the bag of money the robber carried out of the building.

The suspect is described as African-American, mid to late 20s, 5'10"-5'11" tall and 220-230 lbs. He was wearing a ball cap, hooded jacket, and pants -- all black -- at the time of the robbery.

Police found the jacket the suspect is believed to have worn during the robbery by following footprints left in the snow near the bank.

Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to contact the Columbus Division of Police Robbery Squad at 614-645-4665.
