Columbus Road Crews Prepare for Winter Blast

WEST COLUMBUS (Tara Morgan/Kate Liebers) -- Ohio Department of Transportation crews kept a close eye on their monitors Tuesday evening, unsure of what, exactly, the expected storm would bring.

ODOT's operation center staff said drivers may experience heavy snow, ice, or a mixture of both.

Nearly 140 snow plows are to be on duty during the severe winter weather, according to ODOT. Crews are to focus on treating the ramps, bridges and overpasses, which freeze relatively quickly.

Officials reminded drivers that even if the roads seem to be in good shape, salt trucks still have to drive slower while treating the roads.
