ABC 6 INVESTIGATES: Shady Salon Abruptly Closes

COLUMBUS (Tom Sussi) -- They abruptly moved out and hit the road. Three days later, a Columbus hair and nail salon was still selling daily deals through Groupon and Living Social.

ABC 6 Investigators did some more digging. Turns out it just might be the tip of the iceberg.

Sunday night, ABC 6 Chief Investigator Tom Sussi was tipped off that Cheri Bondurant, owner of Details Salon of Dubin, was loading her belongings into a U-Haul truck.

Bondurant confirmed she was closing her business and moving, but would not disclose the new location.

Three days after Bondurant closed her salon, ABC 6 Investigators learned the business was still selling deals through social media sites. To date, more 550 deals have been sold.

Bondurant declined comment.

Former employees told ABC 6 Investigators Bondurant did manicures and pedicures. According to the Ohio State Board of Cosmetology, Bondurant is not licensed to personally do those services. Bondurant denied those allegations.

The attorney representing the salon's landlord says Bondurant broke the lease and owes back rent. It's likely a lawsuit will be filed to recoup damages, she said.

State records show Bondurant took over the salon a year ago, and the business was within months of having its first state inspection.

The Board of Cosmetology says it's looking into this matter. It also says Bondurant will have to reapply for a new license if she opens up another salon.
