Police Find Murder Victim's SUV at W. Columbus Motel, Take Man into Custody

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- Police took a man into custody at a West Side motel on Friday morning after discovering a stolen vehicle that belonged to a limo driver who was found shot to death earlier in the week.

Police apprehended the unidentified man at America's Best Value Inn on W. St. James Lutheran Lane at approximately 3:30 a.m. after finding the black Chevrolet Suburban that belonged to murder victim Paul Devitt in the parking lot of the motel.

Devitt's body was found under a vehicle in the snow at the Hayden Heights Mobile Home Park on Cosgray Road in Washington Township on Tuesday evening. The 49-year-old limousine driver was shot in the upper body, according to Franklin County Sheriff's investigators.

The front desk manager of America's Best Value Inn confirmed that police apprehended the man who drove Devitt's SUV to the motel. That man had stayed at the motel for multiple days before he was taken into custody on Friday, according to the manager.

Police have not commented on any possible charges filed against the man apprehended at the motel.
