Bail Set for Man Accused of W. Columbus Gas Station Murder

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- A Franklin County judge set a $2 million bail amount Friday for a man accused of murdering one person and wounding another after opening fire at a West Side gas station.

Michael Watson faced a judge on Friday morning, hours after he was arrested by SWAT officers inside a Walters Street home in connection with the December 23, 2013 murder of Marvin Ector, as well as the shooting of Darnelle Gammon.

Investigators believe Watson and accomplice Michael Henderson shot Ector and Gammon as the victims sat in a parked car at Sunoco at 849 5th Ave. Ector was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting.

Henderson has also been arrested for his alleged role in the shootings.

Watson told investigators he was with his girlfriend at the time of the shootings, but admitted to hiding out while he was sought by police in connection with the crime.
