Outrage after Man Finds Abandoned Dog Dead in the Snow

CHILLICOTHE (Tara Morgan) -- Outrage in central Ohio as word spreads about an abandoned dog found dead in the snow.

The Ohio SPCA now has the dog and says preliminary findings show the female pit bull did not freeze to death but there are signs of animal cruelty.

A man checking on his property in Chillicothe discovered the dog Sunday along a remote road off Union Lane that leads to the Pleasant Valley Wildlife area.

The dog appeared to be no more than a year old.

Its mangled crate sat just feet away.

"I don't know if it's weather related but people just don't care about animals they don't care about life," said the man who asked to remain anonymous.

The Ross County dog warden says she'll look into it, but says unless there's a witness or someone comes forward there's not much that can be done.

If you know what happened to the dog or who its owner is, contact the Ohio SPCA by email at OhioSPCA@frontier.com or 740-420-2984.
