Mansfield Man Arrested During Attempt to Visit Teen Victim
MANSFIELD -- A central Ohio man, who allegedly terrorized a teen in Wisconsin for years, may have been on his way to kill her when he turned himself in.
Michael Kisling, 24, was jailed in connection to events dating back to 2010. According to the FBI, Kisling contacted a 14-year-old eighth grade student in Wisconsin through Facebook.
He allegedly convinced the girl to send nude photos. When the girl's mother contacted Kisling, he reportedly responded with a profanity-laced email ending with this threat:
"...So leave me alone or it is I who will make you pay you got me???"
Kisling reportedly sent more emails to the family in 2011.
In 2013, the nude photos of the teen showed up again on Facebook.
Investigators discovered the pictures when searching Kisling's apartment last month. At that time, Kisling admitted to posting the pictures and sending the emails, officers said.
Later, on Christmas night, Kisling tried to run.
He stole his grandmother's car and cut the phone lines inside her house near Mansfield. But without money, Kisling went no farther than Springfield when the jeep ran out of gas.
He then reportedly called 911 and, when police arrived, he said he was headed to Wisconsin to confront his victim.
Officers said he told them his plan was to "do stuff to her and possibly kill her."
Kisling's neighbor Cathy Mlay said he should not have been living alone. She said the 24-year-old seemed to have the mental capacity of a 15-year-old.
"He'd come over. I'd feed him. We'd help each other out with different things, if I needed something carried, things like that. He just doesn't have the mind process," Mlay said.
Kisling's grandmother, who declined an on-camera interview, said her grandson has battled mental problems most of his life.
The suspect is currently being held in Youngstown.
