Delaware Co. Investigators Identify Woman Killed in Trailer Fire

HARLEM TOWNSHIP, Ohio (Ken Hines) -- Investigators have identified a woman who died in a fire that destroyed a Delaware County trailer on Thursday afternoon.

Fire fighters found the body of Ruth Baldeschwiler after extinguishing flames at her home at 11050 Fancher Road in Harlem Township. Baldeschwiler, 60, was found inside one of the bedrooms, according to Delaware County Deputy Jeff Bessinger.

Neighbor Brett Ford told ABC 6/FOX 28 he attempted to rescue Baldeschwiler from the flames, but was unable to enter the home due to heavy smoke.

"I could tell the smoke rolled out the bottom at the crack of the door, and there was no getting in," Ford said.

Baldeschwiler was alone inside the trailer at the time of her death, according to the Delaware County Sheriff's Office. Investigators with the State Fire Marshal's Office are examining the remnants of the home in order to determine the cause of the fire.
