Burglar Suspects Caught by Cop with Perfect Timing
HILLIARD (Ben Garbarek) -- Two suspected burglars are caught red handed by a cop at the right place at the right time.
Andrew Foster and Steven Farrow are accused of stealing thousands of dollars worth of cigarettes. They're in jail waiting for their first court appearance.
Officer Tony LaRosa with Hilliard Police Department was out doing his usual patrols while working the overnight shift Thursday morning. That changed quickly when he heard an alarm going off nearby.
"Of course being a police officer, it piqued my interest," LaRosa said.
He pulled into a Speedway gas station just in time to see two men taking off with loads of cigarettes. He flicked on his lights and siren and started chasing them.
"I was like, 'wow is this really happening?'" he said. "It's a once-in-a-career type situation that you roll up on. It took me a second to go, 'whoa this is really what I'm seeing'."
The chase went through Hilliard, Upper Arlington, Columbus and finally ended in Worthington. Both suspects were caught and are now facing charges of breaking and entering as well as fleeing police.
"I was at the right place at the right time," LaRosa said. "Any officer would do the same thing if they were in that situation."
Both suspects will be in court on Friday.
