Mt. Carmel's Grove City Branch to Open Tuesday

GROVE CITY (Lu Ann Stoia) -- Workers put the finishing touches on central Ohio's newest free-standing emergency department this week.

On Tuesday, Mt. Carmel Grove City is set to open at 7 a.m. The $56-million project is to bring fast, convenient care to the southwestern part of the metro area, Mt. Carmel Chief Operation Officer Sean McKibben said.

The new facility -- featuring 15 exam rooms and "fast-track" bays -- will give nearby residents immediate access to medical services.

As for how the project impacts Mt. Carmel West in Franklinton or possible growth in Grove City, McKibben said, "We do not have any definitive plans right now to grow or eventually provide in-patient rooms."

He said the facility has planned to expand the medical office building early this spring or late summer.

The campus sits on 110 acres near the intersection of Interstate 71 and State Route 665.
