Columbus Teen Facing Adult Charges in Alleged Summer Murder Spree

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- A teen has been indicted as an adult on charges related to two fatal shootings and an attempted murder allegedly committed during a summer crime spree.

Devonere Simmonds is charged with aggravated murder in connection with the shooting deaths of Imran Ashgar and Lamont Frazier in July, 2013.

Investigators believe Simmonds and alleged accomplice, 18-year-old Nathaniel Brunner, killed Ashgar during a robbery at a Livingston Avenue convenience store. Brunner has not been charged in connection with the murder of Frazier, who was shot a short time after Ashgar was killed.

The teens are also suspected of shooting William Rudd in the face in Madison County shortly after the murders were committed. The suspects were arrested after officers found them sleeping in Rudd's car.

Simmonds could face life in prison with no possibility of parole if he is convicted of the aggravated murder charges.
