Broken Water Line Closes Grove City Elementary School

GROVE CITY (Ken Hines) -- Students from a Southwestern City elementary school were given a surprise day off on Thursday because of a water line break that dropped the temperature inside the building.

District officials closed Richard Avenue Elementary School because of a lack of heat due to  the line break's effect on one of the building's boilers.

In addition to the heating issues, the line break caused water to leak inside a classroom, and outside the building, where the water formed an icy trail that led to the area where parents drop off and pick up their children.

Maintenance workers are repairing the line break, and expect to resolve the issue quickly. District officials believe the school will open on Friday.
