Alleged Drug Trafficker Arrested in Fayette County After Chase

WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE (Kate Liebers) -- A man accused of trafficking drugs out of his home was arrested Friday after a foot chase, according to police.

William R. Ferguson, 23, reportedly flung several bills of US currency while he ran from officers. He had tried to sneak from the back door of his residence at 912 Willard St., when the Fayette County Sheriff's Tactically Armed Response team began executing a search warrant around 11:45 a.m. Friday.

He was apprehended after a "short foot chase," Sheriff Vernon Stanforth said. Detectives found heroin, marijuana and drug paraphernalia as well as an undisclosed amount of cash in the home.

Ferguson was charged with trafficking heroin and trafficking marijuana, both within 1,000 feet from a school; obstructing official business and possession of drug paraphernalia.

FCSO said Ferguson was the only occupant at the residence when officers arrived.
