Robber Who Injured N. Columbus Clerk with Coffee Still At Large

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- A suspect who threw hot coffee in the face of a clerk while robbing a gas station continues to elude police.

The unidentified suspect robbed Sunoco at 4840 Sinclair Road in North Columbus on December 26 after returning to the station with a cup of coffee he had previously poured, according to police.

The clerk told investigators the suspect requested a fresh pot of coffee, but then claimed that he could not pay for the cup he had poured.

The employee allowed the suspect to take the coffee free of charge, but the assailant soon returned and used the drink to injure the worker, at which time he stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the station's register.

Anyone with information about the robbery is encouraged to contact the Columbus Division of Police at 614-645-4545.
