Two Truck Crash Closes West Columbus Intersection

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- A collision involving two trucks closed a busy West Side intersection on Tuesday morning.

The driver of a pickup drove through a red light at Sullivant and Central Avenues at approximately 10:30 a.m. and slammed into a Mid-Ohio Furniture Bank moving truck, knocking that vehicle on to its side and briefly trapping its two occupants.

The Mid-Ohio workers had just completed a delivery when the crash occurred. They were each transported to a nearby hospital after complaining of back pain following their removal from the truck.

The driver of the pickup told ABC 6/FOX 28 he thought the red traffic light was green when he passed under it, causing the accident. He was cited by police for failure to stop.

The intersection was closed for more than two hours as crews removed the damaged vehicles and debris from the area.
