Postal Worker Severely Beaten in Northeast Columbus

NORTHEAST COLUMBUS (Rob Wells/Kate Liebers) -- The US Postal Service has offered a reward to find the suspect who committed one of the most violent attacks against a delivery worker in years.

Investigators said the postal worker was robbed on Jan. 14 along Laurelwood Drive while she was taking expensive items to a residence. She was reportedly knocked to the ground and left unconscious.

A city sanitation worker witnessed the attack and stayed with the woman until an ambulance arrived. Witnesses said the suspect fled in a white Chevy Malibu with Florida license plates.

The US Postal Service announced it is offering a $50,000 reward for tips that lead to an arrest in this case.

A postal service spokesperson said the victim is recovering at home.
