Worthington Residents Not Pleased with Massage Business Relocation

WORTHINGTON (Jen French) -- People living in a condominium have complained about a massage business moving in next door.

People who live at Residences of Worthington said they don't think it belongs in their neighborhood and cited concerns about parking and traffic.

Worthington City spokespeople, however, said they couldn't find a reason for the business to relocate into the neighborhood.

Bi's Relaxation Massage is to move into its new location at 5949 N High Street, a half-mile north of its current location at 5485 N High Street.

"The parking is for the residents, Josephine Berke said. It's not really for coming and being here for a half hour and taking off and leaving."

A traffic study conducted near the business did not reveal any potential problems, city officials said.

Others who live in the condominium, zoned for people 55 and older, think the massage business will devalue their property.

"As property owners here it's important that we maintain our property values," Martha Spohn said. "I'm not sure a business of this nature is compatible with maintaining property values.
