Staged Wendy's Robbery has Serious Consequences
COLUMBUS -- A Wendy's manager was jailed after she reported an armed robbery -- a heist that police have accused the manager of organizing.
Grove City Police had responded to a robbery at the fast-food chain's Broadway location after the manager said someone held a gun to two coworkers' heads and left with cash.
The shift manager also told people the suspect put a gun to her head in the parking lot.
Now, however, the 20-year-old manager Lynda Maria Washington is facing charges of plotting with the suspect.
Police say Washington and 18-year-old Feven Berhe, the alleged armed robber, are friends.
While the robbery was stagged, the crime had serious consequences.
Lillia Vernal said she was diagnosed with anxiety and panic attacks after a gun was pointed at her face.
"She said, 'Do not move or you're gonna die,'" Vernal recalled.
Police said both suspects confessed to the robbery and said the gun was not real.
Both women are facing charges of aggravated robbery.
