Mother of Boy Killed in Shooting Spree Speaks Publicly for First Time
GROVE CITY (Tara Morgan) -- For the first time since a shooting spree claimed the life of her little boy, the child's mother is talking publicly expressing gratitude for all the community support.
Nicole Fitzpatrick sat in the stands Friday night for the Grove City High School Junior Varsity basketball game.
Her 16 year old son plays on the team.
Fitzpatrick's 9 year old son, Jaiden Dixon, died last month.
Police say her ex-boyfriend shot Dixon in the face when he answered a knock at the family's front door.
"We taught him about stranger danger taught him about what to do if we're in a car and somebody gets sick or something but but never ever had to teach him to be scared to open the door or what to do if somebody points a gun at you," said Fitzpatrick.
Fitzpatrick says friends, family even strangers help her family get through the daily struggles.
"The notes from strangers and the love that's given to our family at this time it's just it's so overwhelming it's so welcome," said Fitzpatrick.
The JV team wore special t-shirts with Dixon's initials during warm up in memory of the little boy.
