Prankster Gives Gifts to Homeless Central Ohioans
COLUMBUS (Ben Garbarek) -- A well-known local prankster is getting a lot of attention for his latest video, but this one is from the bottom of his heart.
Rowan Atwood has millions of followers on YouTube. He's known for his pranks on police officers, random people on the street, and even his own family.
"I guess I'm just an ornery guy that loves making people smile," Atwood said. "This is just fun for me."
His latest video is going viral after he "pranked" homeless people by making their Christmas a little merrier. Atwood is dressed as an elf with a frieind, dragging a decorated Christmas tree and putting it next to sleeping homeless people in Goodale Park. The two then quietly place wrapped gifts underneath the benches the men are sleeping on. They they run off and wait to see their reaction.
"It was beautiful," he said. "They woke up and got to experience a little Christmas and it was one of the greatest things I've ever done."
It's hard not to smile as one man wakes up and his face lights up as he opens his figts -- a blanket and warm socks.
Atwood and his friend also left coffee, doughnuts, and presents outside a local homeless shelter.
He hopes his random act of kindness will inspire others to do the same.
"If my work can get you out and do something positive, then my job is complete," Atwood said.
