U.S. Marshalls, Franklin Co. Deputies Find Grow Op, Guns in Robbery Suspect's Home

COLUMBUS (Rob Wells/ABC 6) -- A robbery suspect found himself in the middle of a much bigger investigation Friday, after Franklin County Sheriff's deputies say they stumbled on much more than they ever thought they'd find at his home.

U.S. Marshals on the case became suspicious when they entered 27-year-old Anthony Gurden's home and found a major pot operation and an arsenal of weapons inside the Groveport property. They say they thought they spotted pot growing supplies when the arrested Gurden on a federal arrest warrant for aggravated robbery.

After obtaining a search warrant for his home, drug agents say they discovered more than 50 large mature pot plants, as well as equipment used to grow and cultivate marijuana. They also found several high powered assault rifles and at least one 12 gauge shot gun.

"When you have someone doing any kind of illegal activity there is usually some type of danger when you have an individual with assault weapons then that's danger," said Sheriff Zach Scott.

Gurden was charged with a felony count of cultivation of marijuana and firearms charges.
