North Columbus Shooting Kills 1, Injures 1

COLUMBUS -- One person died and another was seriously hurt after a Monday evening shooting near the intersection of E. 5th and Lexington avenues.

Columbus Police Department said several suspects fired about 15 shots at the victims before fleeing the scene. Officers did not immediately provide a description of the suspects.

Marvin Ector's body was found in the front seat of a car parked near a gas station. The 26 year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Darnell Gammon, 31, was also shot.  He was rushed to the hospital where police said he is in serious, but stable, condition.

The victims' family members showed up at the scene, clearly emotionally distraught. A small fight among bystanders broke out before it was quickly broken up by officers.

So far police have not identified a motive for the shooting.
