Franklin Co. Auditor Announces He Has Parkinson's

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- Franklin County Auditor Clarence Mingo has announced that he has been living with Parkinson's disease for decades.

Mingo, 41, announced the diagnosis on Tuesday, a day after he told members of his staff.

"These and related symptoms have been a part of my life since 1991," Mingo said. "This is a visible part of my life. Parkinson's disease does not define me, but disclosing the diagnosis publicly has become a source of personal strength."

The father of two has served as county commissioner since 2009.

"You never get used to physical setbacks when you were once healthy, but you can learn to persevere with great success," Mingo said.
