Logan Police Investigate Apparent Murder-Attempted Suicide
LOGAN, Ohio (Ken Hines) -- A suspected gunman died Friday night in a Columbus hospital after he allegedly killed his estranged wife's friend, and then turned the gun on himself, on Christmas Day.
Investigators believe Phillip Loschiavo shot Teresa Bickley in the chest three times at close range in a parking lot near Hocking Mall at approximately 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Loschiavo then shot himself in the head, according to police.
Loschiavo died at 7:53 p.m. Friday. He lived for about 48 hours before dying of complications from the gunshot wound, according to the Hocking County Coroner's Office.
Loschiavo, 30, allegedly murdered Bickley, also 30, and shot himself in front of his wife as the three met in the parking lot to exchange paperwork related to the couple's separation, according to police.
Detectives suspect that Loschiavo's decision to kill Bickley was motivated by his belief that she had interfered in his marriage.
The couple's two young children were also in attendance when the shootings occurred, but investigators have not determined if they witnessed the violence.
