Police Identify Pedestrian Killed in East Columbus

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- Police have identified a pedestrian that was struck by a vehicle and killed while crossing an East Side road on Monday night.

Marcus Hughes was hit by an oncoming car while attempting to walk his bicycle across Brice Road at approximately 8:30 p.m., according to investigators.

Witnesses told police Hughes, 50, was struck by several additional vehicles after the initial crash. The deceased man was wearing dark clothing when he was killed; no reflectors were found on his bicycle.

The driver that first struck Hughes stopped after the crash, and was interviewed by police. No charges have been filed in connection with the fatal accident.
