Former District Treasurer Pleads Guilty to Theft in Office

COLUMBUS (Lu Ann Stoia) -- A former Columbus City School District treasurer could be sent to prison for up to three years after pleading guilty Tuesday to theft in office charges.

Tina Dorsey, 44, is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 23 at the Franklin County Common Pleas Court.

Investigators said more than $27,000 was missing from the district. An audit found about 60 incidents from December 2011 to November 2012, during which Dorsey collected money from special events such as athletic activities and meal programs.

Dorsey worked for the district for 12 years before resigning in February.

I am gratified she has accepted responsibility for her actions," State Auditor Dave Yost stated in a release. "I anticipate the court will properly weigh the violation and the public trust in considering an appropriate sentence.
