Events for Everyone to Ring in 2014

COLUMBUS (Ben Garbarek) -- People said goodbye to 2013 and rang in 2014 in various ways.

Thousands of people came out to the Veteran's Memorial and COSI for First Night - a family friendly event for kids.

"We have to have things for families to do," said Dan Peterkoski, a father of 3-year-old twins. "Families do enjoy each other. If there's not events like this then you're scrounging trying to find things to do. This makes it easy," he said.

The event included face paintings, bouncing castles and even karate demonstrations.

For those looking for a more adult-way to ring in the new year, Seventh Son Brewing Company in Italian Village celebrated "Brew Year's Eve."

"We're usually not open on Tuesday," said Bryan Panian.  "Seventh Son is a good place to just come and relax."

In Hilliard, some folks tried to strike out in 2014. Ten Pin Bowling alley hosted a reservation-only bowling party for parents and their kids.

"The kids get to have their fun, do their things, parents don't have to worry about what they're doing," said one parent.

Happy New Year's to you and yours!
