Police: Picture Leads Woman to Stab Boyfriend in SW Columbus

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- A woman who allegedly stabbed her boyfriend in a jealous rage appeared in a Franklin County courtroom on Tuesday morning.

Meckiela Laney is charged with felonious assault in connection with a knife attack on her boyfriend at her Michelle Ct. home on Sunday.

Investigators believe the assault was preceded by Laney's discovery of a picture of her boyfriend in her car with another woman.

Laney, 27, allegedly stabbed the victim with a large kitchen knife as he slept, puncturing the man's lung.

The victim was able to run to a neighbor's home after the attack, where he called 911. He was initially admitted to a Columbus hospital in critical condition, but has since been upgraded to stable.

Laney is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on November 20.
