Police Investigate Deadly Shooting

NORTH COLUMBUS (James Jackson) -- Columbus police are investigating a deadly shooting on the North side. Investigators say a man's body was found at a home at 1141 East 20th Avenue, around 5:30 Saturday. Police were at the home for hours trying to piece together what happened.

Jermaine Humphrey lives a few doors down. He says he knows the woman who lives at the home and talked to her right after it happened. "You could tell she was scared. She was like she was okay you know what I mean. She just frightened to know what was going on in her home," Humphrey said.

The victim's name has not been released. Investigators don't know if he lived there or even how long he's been dead. "It's a bit scary. But, I mean it can happen everyday. Everywhere," Humphrey said.

Lashawn Woodard moved to the area from Alabama less than a week ago. She says she heard the commotion coming from down the street. "I just told my kids to stay on the floor and then I came out after everything was kind of calmed down. The kids running and stuff. I told my son like, 'Y'all stay on the ground.' I was scared!"

Police are talking to three witnesses to learn more about what happened. At this point, they do not have any suspects.
