Columbus Mayor Presents New Budget Proposal

COLUMBUS (Lu Ann Stoia) -- Mayor Michael Coleman presented his 14 th balanced budget. The $796.7 million proposal will go to City Council for amendments and be voted on in January.

The mayor said the City of Columbus saved taxpayers $16 million this past year which will go into the Rainy Day Fund.

"We have to pay it forward. There will be a time when we need to dip into the fund."

Among the proposals, Coleman said he wants to open all city recreation centers full time.

Coleman also called for stiffer penalties for absentee landlords and land owners who do not take care of their properties.
