Stores Pushing Back Against Thanksgiving Shopping

COLUMBUS (Ben Garbarek) -- Some major retailers are pushing back against the trend of opening up on Thanksgiving Day to get a head start to the holiday shopping season.

Costco, Nordstrom, Ross Stores, TJ Maxx, Marshall's and Burlington Coat Factory have all announced they won't open on Thanksgiving.

"I don't think people should have to work on Thanksgiving and the holidays," said Costco shopper Jeff Jonas.

Many shoppers said there will be plenty of time for shopping after Thanksgiving.

"I'm going to be doing food on Thursday," said shopper Frances Hasson.  "Then I'll be shopping on Friday."

Other major retailers like Walmart, Target and Kmart have announced plans to open on Thanksgiving.
