Suspect Eludes Police After W. Columbus Armed Robbery

COLUMBUS (Ken Hines) -- A gun-wielding suspect continues to elude police after robbing a West Side convenience store.

The unidentified man carried a black, semi-automatic handgun while stealing an undisclosed amount of cash from the Trabue Food Mart at approximately 8:58 p.m. on Sunday, according to police.

After entering the store, the suspect asked a clerk to retrieve an item from the area behind the cash register, and pulled his gun while the employee's complied.

Investigators believe the suspect traveled westbound on Trabue Road after fleeing the scene of the robbery; he may have parked in a neighborhood behind the store after committing the crime.

The suspect is described as African-American, 5'10" tall and 180 lbs., approximately 30 years of age, with a mustache and goatee. He was wearing a navy blue hoodie and black jeans at the time of the robbery.

Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact the Columbus Division of Police Robbery Squad at 614-645-4665, or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-8477.
