Locals Laugh about Small Earthquake

COLUMBUS (Tom Bosco/Kate Liebers) -- A small earthquake startled some people near Nelsonville, but locals were later making light of it.

No damage or injuries were reported after a 3.5-magnitude quake rippled five miles below the surface in York Township, near the intersection of Brady and Pancake roads in York Township.

Tim Peacock, who was inside the historic theater he operates, said it felt like a big truck was driving by.

"It was the scariest thing ever," Peacock said sarcastically.

To others, however, it was no laughing matter. Some had suspected an explosion had occurred.

"It's rocked a few houses out here," one man told a 911 dispatcher.

The earthquake rippled all the way into Logan and Hocking County.
