Apartment Explosion Injures 2 in Victorian Village

COLUMBUS (Terri Sullivan/Kate Liebers) -- An explosion in a Columbus apartment complex injured two people Wednesday.

Two burn victims were transported to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, after the front wall of the building was blown away.

Debris surrounded the blast scene on Dennison Avenue in Victorian Village. A window was tossed about 60 feet into the alley.

Neighbors, who asked to not be identified, said it was one of the biggest explosions they had ever heard.

"The ground shook and I just ran around like, 'Wow. What the heck happened?'" one witness said.

A woman watching ABC 6 at the time thought it was the earthquake the station was reporting at the time.

A glance out the window told her otherwise, as she saw a man running away.

"This guy, he had an apron and he ran and he kept looking back behind him," she said. "He was right here across the street and he stopped. He stopped twice to look back and then he booked it."

Arson investigators did not immediately know what set off the explosion.

No one was evacuated.
