Wife of Former Columbus Cop Accused of Threatening his Lawyer Speaks Out

COLUMBUS (Tara Morgan) -- The wife of a former Columbus police officer accused of threatening his attorney is breaking her silence about his arrest.

Steven Dean is in jail charged with aggravated menacing.

According to a police report, Dean threatened to either shoot or stab his attorney Mark Collins during a phone conversation.

Police were put on alert and seized 20 guns from Dean's house in northeast Columbus.

Dean's wife, Sharon, says her husband would not have hurt anyone.

Sharon Dean says they've been waiting far too long to find out whether he will be charged in a federal criminal investigation.

"For the last year and a half we've been trying to find out what's going on but no one will answer his questions to the point he's to the breaking point," said Sharon Dean.

Sharon Dean says her husband is a scapegoat in a case that involves several others on the police force.

"We feel like they're following us and trying to see what we're doing where everything is at you can look around we don't have money so I don't know what it is," said Sharon Dean.

Steven Dean will be arraigned Friday morning.
