Is Christie Too Fat to be President?

COLUMBUS (Chris Vanocur) -- The controversy continues over Time Magazine's new cover.

The cover shows a silhouetted Chris Christie with the headline, "The Elephant in the Room."

With his landslide reelection Tuesday, some now see the New Jersey Governor as the GOP Presidential front-runner in 2016. This explains why Time put Christie on its cover, but not how he was put on the cover.

This cover, according to some, crossed a line.

One wrote on our Facebook page that the design was "Terrible...rude...tacky...and tasteless."

What bothers many is that Time Magazine and, perhaps others, appear to be making fat jokes at the governor's expense.

Again on Facebook, several compared the Time Magazine image to the opening of the old Alfred Hitchcock Show.

Also adding fuel to the fire is a new book about the 2012 campaign, Double Down.

In it, the authors write about Mitt Romney's feelings about Christie's weight:

Romney marveled at Christie's girth, his difficulties in making his way down the narrow aisle of the campaign bus.

They also wrote, "Watching a video of Christie without his suit jacket on, Romney cackled to his aides, 'Guys look at that!'"

So if you're wondering if Christie's weight would be an issue if he runs for president, some are now suggesting it already is.
