Adult Members of Suspected Robbery Crew Appear in Columbus Courtroom
COLUMBUS (Jen French/Ken Hines) -- Police are investigating a brother and sister suspected of involvement in a string of robberies across the city.
A judge set bail amounts of $850,000 for Kayron and Lakisha Watkins on Friday. The siblings are each charged with aggravated robbery.
Detectives are examining evidence while attempting to determine if Kayron, 23, and Lakisha, 30, are connected to a string of masked robberies that occurred in Columbus over a recent two week period.
Police believe the pair joined with three 17-year-old boys to rob the Family Dollar on S. James Road on Wednesday night.
A police officer shot one of the armed teens, Marquan Watkins, as he attempted to flee from the scene of that robbery, according to investigators. Watkins is listed in critical condition.
Four of the five suspects are related, according to a family member, who identified the fifth member of the group as a close friend.
Attorneys for the two non-injured teens, Makevelli Mock and Laquez Johnson, entered pleas of denial on behalf of their clients Thursday.
