Youth Football Teams "Pink Out" for Cancer
WEST COLUMBUS (Jen French) Two youth football teams played in pink to raise breast cancer awareness.
The Cap City Falcons and Grove City Knights faced off at Westmoor Park Saturday.
"The kids--they watch the NFL and they see all of the guys wearing pink. They want to imitate it, Shannon Sprouse said, Cap City Falcons secretary.
Peggy Robinson lost two sisters to breast cancer. Her two other sisters are survivors. Win or lose, she reminds her 7-year-old grandson Brandon that their family has been touched by the disease.
"My one sister was 49 when she passed away... and my other sister was in her 50s when she passed away, Robinson said.
Jennifer Zahnles sister is a survivor. She tells her son EJ that pink is more than just a color.
"We explained it's a very serious cause, Zahnle said.
