Researchers Want Central Ohioans for Cancer Study
COLUMBUS (Lu Ann Stoia/Ken Hines) -- The American Cancer Society is looking for help from central Ohioans in its effort to finish the fight against the disease.
The organization's researchers want to spend 20 years following men and women between the ages of 30 and 65 from various racial and ethnic backgrounds with no personal history of cancer.
Researchers hope to secure the participation of 300,000 people across the country by February.
Central Ohioans interested in becoming involved with the groundbreaking study, called Cancer Prevention Study 3 (CPS 3), can sign up at the Stephanie Spielman Breast Center on October 16, and at the OSU Biomedical Research Tower on October 31.
Participants will submit a blood sample, undergo a waist measurement, and complete a 20 minute questionnaire.
