Police Identify Man Killed at Burger King
ZANESVILLE (Tom Bosco/Kate Liebers) Police have identified the man shot to death at a fast food restaurant, in front of customers, Thursday morning.
Charles Hooper, 61, of Zanesville, was shot at the Maysville Road Burger King, where he was allegedly a regular customer.
Muskingum County Sheriffs Office reported that Hooper was shot around 9:45 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene, inside the restraint.
The suspect fled by car. A state trooper found a vehicle matching the description on Coopermill Road near Hideaway Lane and arrested the two men inside.
BCI* and sheriffs detectives are still investigating a motive.
Bystanders said Hooper may have intervened in an argument at the restaurant, but Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz would not confirm that.
"That's one of the stories that we got and we're following up on to try to verify what all happened there," Lutz said.
Lutz would not release the names of the men arrested. He also declined to say if both men were involved in the shooting or how many times Hooper was shot.
He confirmed that no Burger King employees were involved.
