Pickerington Central Chosen as Finalist in Katy Perry Concert Contest
PICKERINGTON (Ashley Yore/Ken Hines) -- Pickerington Central High was featured on Good Morning America Friday morning as students wait to find out if they'll win a concert from Katy Perry.
Central students included an anti-bullying message in a video they created for Perry's song, "ROAR", as part of a Good Morning America contest. Central is now one of five finalists that could land a Perry performance at the school.
Stand up for who you are no matter what obstacles you have to swerve around in your life or what is being thrown at you can overcome it and you are a champion everyone here is a champion in their own way we really hope that everyone knows after watching our video, Holly Hollopeter, who stars in the video, said.
The energy in the gym was electric. The school band played and students cheered during the live GMA feed.
[You're] going to high school, wanting to make memories, but none of us expected things like this to happen," the video's co-creator, Shayna Fowler, said. "I mean, this just changed our lives. This changed the lives of everything in this town, and the nation -- it's nationwide. I can't grasp that concept.
