Semi Crash Causes Thousands to Lose Power
COLUMBUS (Kellie Hanna) -- Over 1000 American Electric Power customers lost power overnight.
This is all because of a semi crash in the 2000 block of New World Drive.
The driver says he tried to avoid another semi when he lost control hitting a pole and bringing down power lines.
The road was closed in the area when the accident happened at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday and remained closed until after noon.
Alum Creek Drive was the best alternate, but since it is more industrial and not residential so it had a minimal effect on traffic.
AEP was able to redirect the power before the lines were fixed. Power was restored about 5:30 a.m. to the area.
The driver of the semi was ticketed for the crash.
